Pete Davis
Name: Pete Davis
Age: 46
Best Move: Going fast.

Move you would most like to do?
Break 40 knots

Best aspect of windsurfing?
Speedsailing.

How did you get to where you are today?
Having grown up in Australia, I have always had a love of the sea, the outdoors and it gave me a competitive attitude. Windsurfing is a great avenue for this upbringing. But it was not until I was much older and had moved back to the UK that my local windsurfing club in Bedford started a speed challenge that I found my niche. Going fast.

What are your favourite conditions, and what kit would you be using?
Flat water 30 plus knots on a fast slalom or speed board with a race sail.

Has windsurfing affected your life, how different would it be without it?
Windsurfing has made me lots of great friends & taken me to many different parts of the world. And I would not of met my wife Zara if it was not for the sport. Not sure what I would do without it.

Where would you like to see windsurfing in the future?
We need to get more kids & families back in to the sport . Bring back the long board & make it affordable.

Who/what inspires you?
Dave White (Don’t tell him) for sheer courage, Bjorn Dunkerbeck (Have to say him don’t we) for being truly professional competitor.

Things that annoy you?
Apart from the wife occasionally, not much.

Where is the best place you have been and why?
Maui, its just the best.

What are your top tips to get out more and get the most from your time on the water?
Set your kit up properly before going out, don’t rush it. Buy the best kit you can afford it always pays dividends. Keep fit when it is not windy.
